Innovation Day & 21st European Annual Cocktail Party

The European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (EuroCham) invites you to the 21st European Annual Networking Cocktail: Innovation Day & 21st European Annual Cocktail Party to be held on 16 November from 4pm to 7:30pm at KPMG Hysan Place in Causeway Bay.

The topic of this year’s event is Innovation focusing on Hong Kong’s Smart City approach. The event will start with opening remarks by:

  • Ms. Isabel ZisselsbergerPartner, KPMG China
  • Mr. Robert Agnew, Chairman, European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong
  • Ms. Carmen Cano, Ambassador Head of Office, European Union Office to Hong Kong and Macau

This is followed with innovation talks by EuroCham’s business councils sharing their perspectives on the future of Hong Kong as a Smart City. Representatives from EuroCham’s business councils and their focus points are:

  • Mr. Carl-Frederik Zachrisson, Managing Director at Scania Hong Kong & Vice Chairman of the European Automotive Council (EAC)
  • Focus on reducing fuel emission, alternative fuels, greener transport technologies, new energy vehicles and more.
  • Mr. Tom Uiterwaal,CEO at Reconergy (Hong Kong) Ltd. & Chairman of the Environment and Energy Business Council (EEBC)
  • Focus on waste management, energy efficiency in buildings, waste to energy, plastic bottle recycling and more.
  • Ms. Alexandra Tracy,Founder and President at Hoi Ping Ventures & member of the Financial Service Business Council (FSBC)
  • Focus on green finance (opportunities, requirements, incentives, and learnings from Europe)
  • Mr. Per Dahlberg,Managing Partner at SpringPoint & Chairman of the Information, Communication and Technology Business Council (ICTBC)
  • Mr. Dahlberg will be interviewing Mr. David Chung, Under Secretary of the Innovation and Technology Bureau (ITB). Hong Kong Government has proclaimed “Innovation and technology” as the key to the future of the city.

 

Subsequently, we will have the networking cocktail with free flow of drinks and canapés and a lucky draw with business class tickets on Cathay Pacific to any destination in Europe.

The event will end with closing remarks by our chairman, Mr. Robert Agnew around 7:30pm.

Lithuania celebrates 100 years of independence

[11.03.18] The Lithuanian community and friends gathered together in Hong Kong to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Act of Independence of Lithuania which was signed on 16 February 1918, and the 28th anniversary of  The Act of the Re-Establishment of the State of Lithuania or Act of March 11, 1990.

 

Martynas Levickis met with Lithuanian Community in Hong Kong

[09.02.18] Young Lithuanian accordionist Martynas Levickis teamed up with the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong for a performance of reinvented classics, gypsy dances, folk tunes, tango nuevo and pop covers.

Hailed as “the man who is single-handedly reinventing the accordion”, Martynas Levickis is a musician known for his wide, playful repertoire. He has won the Accordionists’ World Cup in 2009 and the 2010 edition of Lithuania’s Got Talent.

The programme included Mozart’s Rondo Alla Turca, excerpts from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons,  and Telephone by Lady Gaga.

[23.11.2016] The Board of ECC met with Ms. Carmen CANO, new Head of EU Office to Hong Kong. Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong was also represented by Vice- Chairman Andrius Bartuskevicus.  The Board warmly welcomed Ms. Cano and gave an introduction on their own Chamber. The two sides exchanged views on current developments in the EU and Hong Kong and possible HK-EU cooperation.

Andrius Mamontovas in Hong Kong

[12.11.16] Andrius Mamontovas, a legendary Lithuanian rock musician, has visited Hong Kong and gave a thrilling concert to Lithuanian community on November 12.

Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce has organised the event, which was attended by music lovers from around the region.

Mr Romualdas Gėgžnas, Vice Minister, Ministry of Finance, Lithuania, visited Hong Kong

[30.10.2016] Mr Romualdas Gėgžnas, Vice Minister, Ministry of Finance, Lithuania, visited Hong Kong from 30 Oct to 5 Nov 2016 under the sponsorship of  the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Mr Gėgžnas’ visit to Hong Kong allowed him to gain first hand insight into the tax policy of Hong Kong and to explore the robust system established by Hong Kong for tackling corporate tax avoidance.  Mr Gėgžnas also met with the representatives of the Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce and European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and discussed the areas of potential collaboration between Lithuania and Hong Kong.

Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius visited Hong Kong and met with the Lithuanian community, Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce and local business representatives.

“I am happy that we have a small Lithuanian island in Hong Kong: a young and enterprising Lithuanian community. I would like to thank you for promoting Lithuania, our business cooperation with Hong Kong, as well as attracting investments and investing in our country”, said the Head of the Government, who invited local businesses to invest in our country.

The Prime Minister thanked President of the Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce, Raj Sital Motwani, who is also the Honorary Consul of Lithuania, for his contribution to strengthening Lithuania-Hong Kong business cooperation.

Since its establishment in 2014, the Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong has acted as an information and knowledge centre, which provides services to Lithuanian investors interested in Hong Kong and South China markets, as well as Hong Kong and foreign companies wishing to trade and invest in Lithuania. The Chamber of Commerce helps organizing visits of Lithuanian business delegations to Hong Kong, meetings with potential partners and obtaining information from the local authorities.

The Prime Minister briefly introduced the objectives of his visit and the schedule of the meetings, including with China’s Prime Minister Li Keqiang, at whose invitation the Prime Minister will participate at an annual conference Boao Asia Forum, intended to promote economic cooperation between Asia and other countries of the world.

Latvian Food Producers Come to Hong Kong

Three Latvian food producers have come to Hong Kong to explore business opportunities.

Peter Young of Scapa Scandia, an advisor to Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, has organized a seminar on the business opportunities in the region and cross-cultural specifics. Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong has helped GatewayBaltic, export intelligence boutique and the key organizer of the business visit, to arrange business meetings.

China Opens New Opportunities for Lithuanian Transport & Logistic Companies

Lithuanian national road carrier’s association “LINAVA” has just completed its business mission to China.

Business enterprise mission met with Shenzhen logistics and supply management association International Relations Director General Luo Abby and logistics companies Guandong Association Managing Director Willian Sun. Organizations expressed a desire to establish contacts and cooperated in freight forwarding and logistics. Chinese logistics companies were especially interested in Klaipeda port activity.

Business mission to Hong Kong also met with the Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong representatives to discuss how Linava members can build on the opportunities provided by the development of the Asian region and Hong Kong in particular. Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong offered Linava members assistance in organizing the visits and representing international fairs and business missions to Hong Kong and Southern China.

Business mission to China was financed by project “Development of Lithuanian transport companies export and entrepreneurship” Nr.VP2-2.2-UM-01-K-01-018, financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the programme “Assistant-1”. Linava was represented by its members: UAB Transporto Marisa, “UAB” Remanus, UAB “Stanvita”, UAB “Daimanta” and UAB “Kora trans”.

Lithuanian Ambassador’s Visit

The Lithuanian Ambassador to China, The Honorable Lina Antanavičienė, was hosted by Honorary Consul to Hong Kong and Macau, Raj Sital, at Ista Restaurant. The Lithuanian community was out in force, including the leadership of the new Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong.

[1.06.15] Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce was featured on Business Planet programme broadcasted on Euronews Chanel. The progamme focused on Hong Kong as a vital hub and springboard to Asian markets for European Entrepreneurs. Vice-Chairman Andrius Bartuskevicius shared the information about free services available to assist entrepreneurs that come here to establish themselves as well as opportunities to use Hong Kong as a hub to kick start the business in ASEAN markets.
